Information age and education evaluation

Understanding the current education

There has been a whole debate on the value of a university education in this new age

Many including even some of the boomer generation have started being receptive about their view of university after having experienced their own sons’ and daughters’ post-university age

It is important to understand that humans in nature want to be valuable

No one wants to be challenged or proven wrong in what they believed

Those who understand this appreciate the value to keep learning to equip themselves and to have a better view and understanding of life

On the issue of education, it is important to understand that the jobs that informed the development of the curriculum used in most university education existed in the industrial age where most of the skills were required as industries were built

To the boomers, it is not in doubt that what the current generation studies in school was 80% developed during the industrial era

These industries were never built by the boomers, they found them already established

Along the way came the information age when information technology came and more people started considering IT-related courses and we can all agree that that was embraced as most colleges and universities incorporated most of IT related courses if not being incorporated in most of the units

However, the old version courses were never taken out at least most of them have been retained

Any meaningful learning should consider the availability of its value in the future

Learning without considering any meaningful value only means you know unnecessary things

It is like knowing how to fix a typewriter machine in an age where even the company that produces the machines shut down a decade ago or knowing how to fix a telephone booth when mobile has taken over

There ought to be a constant progressive evaluation from all humans to understand and know exactly what is valuable

Humans primary goal is to solve problems and create solution

AI and robot development are some of the few examples of human development to reduce the time consumed to solve problems

The revolution cannot be stopped and whoever stands in the way will eventually lose

Humans will keep readjusting, reinventing and creating

To invent new ways of solving problems and doing things is to accept who we are

When the world is changing be part of that reality.
